In this workshop we will explore movement through guided improvisation, beginning with a lead warmup touching on yoga and contemporary dance. To propel the body and brain we will play games that will ultimately facilitate the creation of movement. The afternoon will end with a set phrase that you might just have to share at upcoming holiday parties.
For those who are interested, Dr. Christine Hwang will use two acupuncture points -- one between the eyes and another on top of the head -- to help calm the mind and support the body's yang or heating energy which amplifies the receptiveness of the body to the surrounding healing sound waves.

New Year's Resolve
~Create your own Sankalpa~
Sunday, January 1, 2017
12:00pm - 2:00pm
$40 ($45 the day of)
Begin the New Year with intention and devotion to your dreams and projects. Through a special asana sequence, meditation and visualization, and pranayama, this 2hr class will help you clear the path and crystallize your intention in the coming year.
You will be guided into crafting your own resolve or sankalpa (in Sanskrit). Sankalpa is a chosen resolution in the form of a short sentence that when conveyed with clarity and devotion brings the desired positive change in one’s life. Once the seed of sankalpa is planted deep in the subconscious, it gathers the vast forces of the mind in order to bring about its fruition. This simple resolve has the potential to awaken the willpower and become the creator of your destiny.
Bring pen and paper to write on. You will leave focused, grounded, energized, and inspired.
After class we will toast to the New Year with Asti spumante, sweets and cheese.

Immersing oneself in sacred sounds is a practice that invokes peace and healing, expansion of awareness and connectedness with the inner Self and the pervading cosmic consciousness. We will be using gongs, singing bowls, running forks and chimes to create “a musical engine releasing cosmic power” that restores the harmonious flow of life energy throughout the body.
For those who are interested, Dr. Christine* will use few acupuncture points to help calm the mind and support the body's yang or heating energy which amplifies the receptiveness of the body to the surrounding healing sound waves.
